Leadership ForumEach year the Association hosts a one-day Leadership Forum consisting of a half-day guest speaker presentation on a timely topic, followed by a lunch and half-day leadership and planning workshop. Historically, this event has been held at no-cost to FWIT members and open to nonmembers for a nominal cost. It was a Capital Event: FWIT Leadership Forum X On Saturday morning, April 27th, over 40 FWIT members met at the beautiful new Texas Bankers Association headquarters, overlooking the Texas State Capitol and Governor’s Mansion. Heather McKissick, CEO of the Credit Union Executive Society, spoke to our members about Confidence & Leadership. Heather taught us that LEADERS BRING BANANA BREAD – meaning that we need to be human and share that with our coworkers. Ramona Arora, VP of Enterprise Career Development for The Walt Disney Company, shared her knowledge about Crucial Conversations: how to get your point across, responding in an effective manner and using tension to leverage the management of stress. Using a tool called the Tower of Power, we learned to USE THE TENSION to stack wooden blocks. It was so much fun! We all had a great time networking while learning how to use our power and communicate effectively. If you did not make it this year, please plan to attend next year. It is free and one of the many benefits of membership in Financial Women in Texas!
