They got to exercise, bond, network, and destress from their daily routine. They had a blast!
On October 16th, we held a Fall Recruitment Mixer with guest speaker, Israel Castro who gave a short presentation on “Purpose”. Israel is the Founder of Strive Now, a youth centered non-profit organization that focuses on empowering teens to lead with purpose through mentorship. We got the opportunity to pin our new members: En Li, Nubia Galvan, Linda Nunez, Briana Juarez, and Alma Garcia. It was a lovely evening, full of networking, FWIT stories and potential new members who were eager to learn more about our group!
Our Winter Celebration was held at Anson 11 on December 11th, where most of our members got to gather, embrace our community by enjoying the holiday lights at our downtown San Jacinto Plaza, had a gift exchange and are looking forward to next year’s goals for our group!
On February 11th, we had the opportunity to visit the El Paso Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for an Economic update. The update was provided by Isabel Brizuela, a member of the Research Department’s regional group who spoke on Texas economics. The information we received gave us real insight into the Texas Economy and the impact of political and social changes throughout the state. We had some special guests attend: Marisela Velasco & Michelle Carmona from GECU, and Michael Wegener and Veronica Maese from FirstLight FCU. We welcomed our newest members from GECU Federal Credit Union: Alexandra Sanchez, Karla Arellano, Lesly Medina, Maria Fernandez & Yadira Rojas. We would also like to thank Velera for their $500 sponsorship of our group for a second year!
