About our speaker:
Roman Medina is a Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Jefferson Bank, where he oversees the development, implementation, and enforcement of the Bank's Information Security Program, policies, and tools to safeguard information assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
Roman holds a B.B.A. in Information Systems and a B.B.A. in Accounting from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), along with a Master's in Information Technology with a concentration in Infrastructure Assurance, also from UTSA. He is certified as a CISSP, CISA, CDPSE, and CRISC, and holds Security+ and Network+ certifications.
With over 20 years of combined experience in information, network, and cybersecurity, as well as IT auditing, Roman brings a broad and deep perspective to the field. He began his banking career in 1998 at IBC Bank in Laredo, Texas, holding various roles through 2005 and ultimately serving as Information Security Manager for the San Antonio branch. He then spent nearly a decade at CPS Energy (2005–2014), advancing to Manager of Infrastructure Security before joining Jefferson Bank.
Roman is active in the San Antonio cybersecurity community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Alamo Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), where he directs the Cyber Leaders Forum and leads quarterly gatherings of information security leaders from across the area. He is a past board member of Christian Assistance Ministry, a San Antonio nonprofit, and previously served as Cybersecurity Council Chair for the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
Outside of work, Roman treasures time with his family — especially his two young children, ages 9 and 8, and the family dog.
