Please join us for a special and inspiring message from Laci Richardson, CPA, M.S.A. Laci will share her message on mentoring young ladies at LCU and ways FWIT members can mentor ladies pursuing their careers in finance.
Laci Richardson completed her Masters of Science in Accounting at Texas Tech University in 1997 and obtained her CPA certification in 1998. She worked in public accounting as an auditor at Garrett and Swann, LLP for twelve years, then took a break from public accounting to stay home with her children. During that time, she owned and operated a fitness franchise in Lubbock and the West Texas area. Currently Laci is teaching accounting at Lubbock Christian University and pursuing her doctoral degree in accounting. She has a passion for teaching young people about the business world, but more importantly about their worth in Jesus Christ.
Llano Estacado group established a Scholarship Fund several years ago in order to help a student with expenses for financial related classes. We offer $500 at least once a year and have at times been able to offer 2 awards in one year. The name of the Scholarship is the Barron-Huffaker Scholarship it was established in honor of two of our members. Dixie Barron and Lynda Huffaker have been active in National Association of Bank Women (NABW), Financial Women International (FWI) and now Financial Women in Texas (FWIT) for over 30 years. We are pleased to announce our next recipient is a LCU student and this scholarship winner will be recognized at our meeting!
