Welcome to Financial Women in Texas!

We have just completed another successful year with FWIT with Lynda Huffaker as our Association President. We also had a dedicated Board and Group Presidents that worked hard to help fulfill the objectives and purpose and FWIT:

We start out this new year with a total membership of 110 members! That is continued growth from our first year in operation and an increase of 12 members over the last year!

We had our annual conference in Lubbock, TX in April 2011. This was a very successful conference attended by many of our members and several guests. Thank you to the Lubbock Group for the hard work in providing this conference that met many of our needs both personally and professionally. Look for information soon on the conference to be held in El Paso, TX September 21-23, 2012! As always, we appreciate the support of IBAT – Independent Bankers Association of Texas - in helping us be where we are today.

How did FWIT get started? In the early 1900’s a group of daring women started the National Association of Bank Women (NABW). Along the way as the organization grew and chose to diversify membership to accommodate many other areas in financial services the name was changed to Financial Women International. In 2009 FWI decided it was time to cease operations and come to an end. At that time, a group of daring women in Texas decided we were not ready for this to end. With the help of IBAT, we formed FWIT – Financial Women in Texas! The women of the early 1900’s from NABW and those of FWI have paved the way for where we are now. As women in FWIT we are paving the way for our future and the future of others in the financial services industry!

Your membership in FWIT will provide many opportunities - you’ll make great friends, have a wonderful networking environment, and it will benefit you both personally and professionally. WE have groups all over the State of Texas and working to continually form new groups. We choose to “Make It Happen”! To leave a legacy for those who will follow in our shoes! To pave the way for the next generation! Will you come and join us?

Association President (2011-2012)
